The Magickal Moon
Introduction
There's no denying that the moon has a powerful effect on human beings, whether you're aware of it or not. Our thoughts, emotions and actions are all influenced by the moon's cycles and phases. The idea that each day of the month is associated with a different phase of the moon dates back to ancient times. And while it might seem like there's nothing more to this than superstition or tradition, there are actually practical reasons for using these cycles—and even a few spells—in your magickal work!
How to Use the Phases of the Moon in Your Magick
In magick, we often use the phases of the moon to help us cast spells. The full moon is a great time to work on prosperity spells, as well as any type of love spell.
The new moon is also known as an "astral" or "psychic" phase because it's when we're closest to other dimensions and can tap into our psychic abilities more easily than usual. This makes it ideal for divination and scrying practices like tarot readings or reading tea leaves in a cup--but don't forget that during this time you should be careful not to take anything at face value! You may see things in your readings that aren't necessarily true; try not to let yourself get carried away by what seems like good news when really it might just be wishful thinking from your subconscious mind trying its best at interpreting whatever image comes up on its own terms rather than yours (and thus leading you astray).
Full Moon Rituals and Spells
Use the full moon to banish, cleanse and release. The waxing and waning phases of each cycle are ideal times to do this. For example, if you want to get rid of an old relationship or job--do it during the waning phase so that things can be released easily and gracefully.
Use the full moon for new beginnings. This is also a great time for starting projects or making big changes in your life! If you've been meaning to start writing that book or taking classes at night school (or whatever) but haven't yet made any moves toward doing so...now might be the time! The energy from this lunar phase makes it easier than usual for us humans who tend towards procrastination :)
Draw down energy from divine beings such as deities or archangels during waxing moons; charge tools such as crystals with intention during waning moons; set intentions at new moons (either daily or monthly).
New Moon Rituals and Spells
New Moon Rituals and Spells
The new moon is a time of starting fresh, so it's ideal for rituals that involve cleansing, purifying and banishing negative energies. You can also use this time to manifest your goals with spells or create a talisman (see below) to carry with you throughout the month.
Cleansing Ritual: Before performing any magickal work on the new moon, it's important to clear yourself of any lingering energies from previous spells or rituals that may interfere with your current workings. For example if someone did a spell against me last week but I didn't know about it until today--that could affect my ability to do anything during this new moon! So first thing after waking up tomorrow morning I'll take some saltwater in my hands and sprinkle some over myself as well as around my house.* * Purification Spell: Nowadays everyone has so many electronics around them 24/7 which means there are lots of electromagnetic frequencies being emitted into our homes every day which can cause stress and anxiety among other things if we aren't careful about shielding ourselves from them all day long (especially when sleeping). But luckily there's an easy solution available too...just get yourself some sage incense sticks online ($5-$10 per package) then light one up while saying something along these lines:"I am purified by fire!"
Waxing Moon Rituals and Spells
The waxing moon is a good time to do magick for growth, expansion and increase. This can include:
Love spells (romance and relationships)
Money spells (finances)
The waxing moon is also a good time to do healing spells because the energy of growth is present in your life at this time.
Waning Moon Rituals and Spells
The waning moon is a good time to banish or release things. This can include negative energies, hexes and spells, as well as anything else that you're ready to let go of in your life.
The waning moon also works well for healing spells. If you have been feeling ill recently, this is an excellent time to perform a spell that will help heal whatever ailment has been troubling you.
Choosing Which Moon Phase to Work With When You're Casting Your Spells
There are a number of factors to consider when choosing which moon phase to work with when you're casting your spells. The first thing you should do is determine what your goal is and then choose the appropriate moon phase. For example, if your goal is to attract love into your life, then it would be best to work with the waxing or full moon because this energy can help attract positive things into our lives. On the other hand, if you want protection for yourself or someone else during a dangerous situation such as an accident or illness (or anything else), then it would be better for you use waning or dark moon energies because these types of energies tend to shield us from negative influences such as accidents and illnesses.
You should also keep in mind that every type of spell has its own unique properties associated with it--for example: Love Spells - This type of magickal ritual utilizes specific herbs and oils whose properties enhance one's ability attract passion between two people through invocation rituals held at nightfall during either The Waxing Gibbous Moon Phase (approximately 15 days after New Moon) OR Full Moon Phase(s).
Different moon phases can be used for different purposes.
The phases of the moon are a good way to structure your magick. You can use them to cast spells and rituals, or even as an inspiration for your magickal work.
